It is with great excitement that Ontarians will soon be able to enjoy a wide range of iGaming services in the province. Although an initial date was set for December 2021, it seems that the launch of this market will take place in the first quarter of 2022.

Ontario

Highly-competitive and licensed iGaming will come into the fold; providing players with a wide range of enticing online gambling opportunities. The expansion of the iGaming market in Ontario has been in the pipeline for some time now. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has created a new subsidiary known as iGaming Ontario.

The division has been tasked with entering into final agreements with private operators in lieu of allowing unlicensed operators to continue promoting services in somewhat of a grey area. It’s great news for all involved and will benefit not only iGaming Ontario, but players looking for more reliability and better platforms within a legal context.

Commercial operators set to take the province by storm

As is the case the world over, online gambling is rife regardless of the legal standpoint of state authorities. Subsequently, it leads to a market where operators are not always vetted and players put at risk. The upcoming expansion of the iGaming industry in Ontario will eradicate the remnants of this and bring about much-anticipated change. Before the expansion can commence, it’s vital that iGaming Ontario follow the correct processes in an effort to attract the best iGaming operators.

This process requires that all prospective operators register with the AGCO which will allow them to be affiliated with iGaming Ontario and ultimately start providing online services to the general public. As mentioned, this move will oust fringe operators and ensure complete transparency across the board.

A well-known online operator has just applied for a gambling license from the AGCO. This sets the precedent and clearly shows the keen interest from top gambling operators. It’s very likely that the AGCO and iGaming Ontario will allow this operator to obtain the newest legal gaming and sports betting license; allowing them to open their platform to Ontarians early next year. The platform includes a fantastic eSports section, extensive sportsbook, and a wide number of online games. It’s the start of new beginnings and will surely augment the market as hoped.

Take note sports fans

Single-event sports betting has long been an omission from the current gambling framework in Ontario. However, the latest move to enhance the competitiveness and openness of online gambling in the province is a boost for sports betting, too. Canada has been slow to allow single-event sports betting as a whole. But, the latest developments will put an end to this and ensure that players have access to a raft of sports markets that are offered by licensed operators.

It goes without saying that the full experience of online betting will be on show – making the entire experience that much more enthralling. Casino fans needn’t despair as there is much in the works with operators being able to enhance the entirety of their portfolios by including more games of different categories. Land-based casinos won’t be the only place you can access thrilling table games, live dealer games, and a host of slots. We can’t imagine receiving better news before heading into the new year.

Stay tuned as 2022 is fast-approaching

We look forward to the coming months and what it holds for Ontario. There will certainly be an influx of superior online operators that provide diverse gaming options. Of course, the inclusion of single-event betting for sports is a major win and will be high on the list of things to try for all sporting fans. Whether you follow the Blue Jays or the Maple Leafs, there will be ample opportunity to have your say. Plus, avid casino players will be able to access a newly-improved catalogue of the latest online games. These games have been designed by prominent software developers and will be rolled out by established operators. All of which is a formula for success. Stay tuned as iGaming Ontario will bring with it a whirlwind experience for all interested parties!
