The Oilers and Flames met in a playoff series for the first time in more than 30 years. The Flames entered the series as the betting favourites after a dominant regular season, but Edmonton overcame the odds to secure a lopsided four games to one series win to advance to the Western Conference Finals against the Avalanche.

A high scoring series

The Flames jumped out to a historically fast start in the series, literally scoring the two fastest goals in NHL online playoff and best Canadian casinos‘ history as they found the back of the net twice in the first 51 seconds of game one. They went on to win the opening game 9-6, but they would not win another game as Edmonton took the next four in a row. Edmonton scored at least four goals in each of the five games, showing a consistently powerful offense that Calgary was unable to match.

The Oilers set a number of other offensive records during the series. Leon Draisaitl set three very impressive playoff high water marks. The first was setting the all time playoff series mark with 15 assists, very impressive given that the series only went five games. In addition, Draisaitl became the first player ever to score three or more points in four consecutive playoff games. He topped his own mark in game five by racking up a fifth-straight three-point game. Lastly, Draisaitl became the first player in NHL history to record four assists in the same period of a playoff game.

A wild overtime win to clinch the series

With the Flames facing elimination in game five, they managed to hold a 1-0 lead through the first period. The second period was at the opposite end of the spectrum, with the teams exploding for seven goals combined, three for Calgary and four for the Oilers to send the teams into the second intermission tied at four. The third period was surprisingly scoreless and the Flames extended their season into overtime. The extra period didn’t last long, as Connor McDavid scored on a wrist shot 5:03 into overtime to send Edmonton to their first Western Conference Finals since 2006.

The final game of the series was anything but lopsided, but the middle three games of the series were all Edmonton. Their offense scored seemingly at will, and did a good job keeping the Flames goalscorers under wraps after their nine-goal game one explosion, thrilling online gambling in Canada as well as online gamblers. Their record-setting offensive performance was more than enough to make them feel in control of the series the whole way.

Oilers face their toughest challenge yet

As formidable as the Flames were in the regular season, the Avalanche were even more impressive. Colorado lost just two games in the first two rounds of the playoffs, cruising to a sweep over the Predators in their first series and a 4-2 win over the Blues in round two. Like their series against the Flames, Edmonton comes into this series as a significant underdog, but after their impressive performance against Calary, Colorado would be wise not to overlook them no matter what the bookies say.

Regardless of the odds, Edmonton proved that they have the ability to bring home Canada’s first Stanley Cup since 1993. They will be tough to beat if they play as complete a series as they did against Calgary, so keep your best online casino apps Canada with you to see if they will try to keep their goalscoring outbursts coming and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
