WSOP actually built their online poker site in Ontario upon the pre-existing GG Poker platform. The new website created in partnership between the two brands is now known as WSOP.ca. The platform still uses all of the same software that the GG Poker site used previously, putting the more recognizable WSOP branding on top of it. Therefore if you have never played at a GG Poker site and are familiar with WSOP (what poker fan isn’t?) you should feel at home on this site.
In terms of aesthetics, this really is a platform for the true poker fan, and the design leaves you in no doubts as to what type of website you are on. While it has clearly been built for the purists, the site is also easy to navigate and you should find it easy to get to grips with if you are a new poker player.
As we said above this is strictly a poker-only platform, if you are looking for a sports betting site, you can check out the best sportsbook in Ontario for September 2024 right here. While the likelihood of a sportsbook ever being made available through this platform looks slim, we wouldn’t rule out a WSOP Ontario online casino being launched at some point in the future.
Head to Google Play or the Apple App Store right now and a WSOP app can definitely be found, however, this is the regular app for WSOP poker news, events, and so on.
You will be able to play poker for free via this app, but just note that this is not the same thing as WSOP.ca. As far as we could see, there isn’t a dedicated WSOP Ontario app yet, but WSOP does have an app for its US state regions, so we imagine that one must be on its way at some point.
The poker client that is used to play can be downloaded onto mobile devices, however, for the best experience, we still recommend using the desktop version. Just as is the case on the main site, there is no WSOP sports Ontario app available. In the regular non-gambling WSOP app, you can access a free-to-play betting platform called SuperDraft, but please note that this is not a real money betting app. If you are looking for a real money sports betting app, our Sports Interaction Ontario review is highly recommended.
Opening an account with the WSOP Ontario online casino is fairly straightforward and can be done in just a few easy steps. To get started, you need to head to the site, hit the sign up button, and fill out the form. You may be required to activate your account via email and will have to verify your age in accordance with the gambling laws in Ontario – where you must be aged 19+. Overall, the process should take just minutes in most cases, however, it can take longer in some rare cases. If a WSOP Ontario sportsbook is ever launched, we imagine that the sign up process will be much the same.
You can fund your WSOP Ontario app account using a variety of payment options, and the minimum required deposit is just $10. As well as credit and debit cards, a range of e-wallets and other payment methods are also accepted. All deposits should be processed instantly and, as far as we could see, no fees are charged from WSOP’s side. With that being said though, we can’t guarantee that banks would charge at the other end.
When using Ontario online casinos, sportsbooks and poker rooms, we always recommend using an e-wallet, such as iDebit or Interac, to make deposits where possible. Such payment methods don’t share financial details with the online merchant, which ultimately keeps users safer from online hackers.
Like all of the best Ontario online gambling sites, the level of customer service at WSOP is up to a decent standard. While the WSOP Ontario phone number can be found on the WSOP.ca website, we recommend using live chat, email, or social media. WSOP is a massive organization and should be reachable at any time of the day.
The important thing to remember here is that WSOP.com and WSOP.ca are somewhat separate entities, so you are best to ensure that you are connecting with the correct customer service team. If you reach the wrong one needn’t worry, as they should be helpful enough to point you in the right direction.
While there isn’t yet a WSOP Ontario sportsbook, the brand does have a valid iGaming Ontario license and was the first operator to launch an exclusive real money poker site in the province. We should note though that WSOP.ca is the site that is licensed in Ontario and not WSOP.com. As a result, you will be separated from those in legal US gambling states if you are a real money poker player.
In terms of security, all of the software and tech on the site has been carried over from GG Poker. Is this a good thing? Most definitely, as SSL encryption technology, firewalls and the necessary bells and whistles required for a safe and secure online poker experience can all be found here.
As there isn’t a WSOP Ontario online casino available at this time, those looking for a casino-style VIP program might be disappointed. However, high stakes and VIP poker players definitely won’t be – as WSOP does more than enough to take care of its high rollers. Players in the US who have fared well in WSOP VIP online tournaments in the past have in some cases been invited to in-person pro tournaments in Las Vegas, and we believe such things may be coming soon to WSOP.ca.
When WSOP launched over in the UK, it used the software from 888poker and ultimately struggled to compete with the most established operators on the market. WSOP.ca has instead used software from GG Poker, which appears to have been a masterstroke. The downloadable poker client for the desktop is exactly like GG Pokers, only with WSOP branding.
If the selection of games at WSOP.ca seems decent now, it’s only going to get better as the number of players on the platform continues to grow. As well as the classics like Texas Hold-em and Omaha games, WSOP has also provided some of its own more bespoke game types as well. The rakes can vary and there is the possibility to get a percentage return for those who put a certain amount into the rake.
WSOP.ca offers multiple poker tournaments, with new ones available every day. There are tournaments with buy-ins both small and large, as well as tournaments both large and small in terms of the number of players.
The trick lies in finding the tournaments that will definitely get the required number of players to go ahead. As we mentioned earlier, WSOP.ca players in Ontario are shut off from those playing on WSOP.com. As a result, the pool of available players is smaller. That being said, the community is continuing to grow in 2024 and users in Ontario will be able to play against players elsewhere in Canada when other provinces introduce their legal online gambling legislation.
Like all good poker platforms, the WSOP Ontario app has limits that suit casual players and high rollers alike. There are buy-ins and low as $0.10 and also games with buy-ins reaching five figures sums.
From the software to the branding and the range of games and tournaments, WSOP has definitely got it right this time. This is the best online poker site in Ontario right now and we definitely see it staying that way for years to come.
WSOP is best known as a US poker site, but it did launch a real money poker site in the UK some years back in combination with 888poker – who provided the software. Has it entered the recently-legalized Ontario online gambling market? Check out our latest WSOP review in order to find out.
You have probably seen the free-play poker game on the WSOP site if you visit regularly, but might be struggling to find the real money poker site. Is this because it doesn’t exist at all, or simply isn’t available in your region? Find out here at GamblingGuy.com

In Europe and the US, WSOP found itself struggling to compete with the likes of Poker Stars when it came to its online product. However, in Ontario WSOP has managed to get in early and develop a community. We only see things getting better with this operator and would definitely recommend it to you. One thing that we would love to see in the future is the launch of a WSOP Ontario sportsbook.
