Our SkyBet Review 2020
Founded in 2002 by the merger of Surrey Sports, Planet Football and Opta Index, SkyBet is owned by The Stars Group and includes 6 brands: SkyBet, Sky Casino Sky Vegas, Sky Bingo, Sky Lotto and Sky Poker.
SkyBet is a premium casino and sportsbook which has become famous in a short amount of time. However, it is most renowned for its sportsbook which has many betting markets and was earlier associated with the Sky TV channel in the UK, which shut down in 2012. It has a small casino with few games from Playtech. The poker section of Sky Poker is good but not extraordinary. As a part of The Stars Group and holding requisite licences, SkyBet is not a fraud or scam. Unfortunately, It currently does not operate in India.
Pros & Cons
Some of the pros and cons of SkyBet are:
Pro and Con
- Many betting markets
- Secure and safe gambling experience.
- Amazing FAQ
- Fast interface
- Rich live casino
- Poor customer support
- Average odds
- Limited casino slot games
SkyBet is a premium name in the UK and while it does not cater to punters outside of the British Isles (and hence does not accept INR), it is quite generous when it comes to their bonuses and free bets. In their sportsbook section, SkyBet has a loyalty program on where you get free bets. You have to opt-in for this bonus and bet £25 in games with 1/1 or 2.0 odds or greater. You have to bet before Sunday and you get a max free bet of £5 every week. The free bets do not expire.
For the casino section, Sky Casino offers a maximum bonus of £60 with 40x wagering requirement on a minimum stake of £10. There is also a poker bonus that Sky Poker offers. If you are a poker player, Sky Poker offers a £40K Stack Builder Freerolls. By earning poker points, you can get £10k Freerolls in 4 weekly.
- Usability: The website SkyBet is very usable and rates high on its intuitiveness since you get all the necessary options thrown at you on the home screen itself. On the left side, you get the Menu which displays the promotions and bet options. On the top, you have the different sections of SkyBet, Sky Vegas, Sky Casino, Sky Poker, etc. The options are clearly visible. In the footer, you also get all your information about the operator too.
- Design: The design of SkyBet is not clunky. It is a mixture of navy blue and white. The text is clearly written and the sections are presented as icons with the Sky name being placed before every section. You can slide through the bonuses and promotions easily.
- Performance: The website of SkyBet opens up fast as it does not have any graphically-intense icons or animations on it. It can also open up easily on a tablet or phone with the same attractive interface.
When it comes to the payment options, SkyBet might be a bit off-putting for most modern-day punters. This is because, when compared with other operators, SkyBet has relatively fewer payment options available for punters. It mostly accepts Debit and Credit cards. PayPal was an option for SkyBet, but nowadays, it does not accept PayPal from new customers. Older customers who had used PayPal before may continue to use it (minimum deposit – £10). Recently they have opened up to Google Pay and Apple Pay as well.
For Apple Pay, the Minimum Deposit amount is £5 and the withdrawal time is around 3-5 days and deposit occurs instantly. With Google Pay, the minimum deposit amount is £5 and deposit processing time is 2-3 seconds. Withdrawal time however is 3-5 days. In the case of debit or credit card, the minimum withdrawal is £10 while the max withdrawal depends on the card used. The deposit process is instant while withdrawal time can take 2-5 banking days. In the case of credit and debit cards, you can set your own deposit limits.
Customer support is an important criterion for punters when considering an online casino, so as to prevent any complications or undue losses. Customers of SkyBet receive UK-based support through various channels. You can reach out to the support team through phone calls, live chat, and email. The phone lines are available from 8 AM to midnight, and the live chat support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The only concern highlighted by our SkyBet reviews is about the waiting time, but it can be looked over since they deal with huge problems at once. We also give them due credit for having both phone and live chat support.
SkyBet might take time, but they are sure to solve all your queries and grievances. Also, they have a very detailed Frequently Asked Questions section, where you can find extensively covered questions regarding almost every aspect of betting and SkyBet policies.
If you are wondering if SkyBet is a scam or a fraud, then you can put these doubts to rest as SkyBet has obtained their license from the UK Gambling Commission and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. To keep your details safe, SkyBet employs Verisign SSL encryptions. Plus, if you have not logged out but are inactive for about 90 minutes, then SkyBet logs out your account.
On top of that, SkyBet has certifications from GamCare and BeGambleAware and hence, are committed to Responsible Gaming. It has a strong verification process where you need to input your proof identity (Passport, Driving License or Identity Card), proof of address (Utility Bill or Bank Statement from 3 months prior). Within 12 hours, your account can get verified. At the time of verification, your age will also be checked as for the protection of minors SkyBet does not allow punters below the age of 18 years.
The RNG games offered by Sky Casino are safe as they are tested by eCOGRA and Technical Systems Testing (TST). They also have certificates from GLI certification (Gaming Laboratories Certification).
While most operators are quite open about their loyalty program or VIP club, SkyBet does not reveal their VIP club. According to our reviews, there is a VIP club of SkyBet but no information is presented on their website on the go.
You get better offers as a VIP with enhanced odds, a VIP accounts manager and VIP invites too. While SkyBet may not have an open loyalty program, they do come with an amazing loyalty offer – the SkyBet Bet Club.
If you are a loyal punter and stake £25 or more before the Sunday of the week on odds of 2.0 or higher, you can get a maximum of £5 as unlimited free bets on the subsequent Monday – that is – free bets without an expiry date. Of course, you have to opt-in for this bonus. If you Join the SkyBet Bet Club, you can even track your betting career up till you get the coveted free bet at the starting of every week.
Skybet.com Sports Betting
SkyBet has a lot of betting markets that they offer which makes it a delight for any punter. The common markets that they offer are football, cricket and horse racing. You can also bet on special football leagues like English Premier League, FA Cup, Spanish La Liga, etc. They also offer betting markets on famous sports like Tennis, Basketball, Baseball, Formula 1, etc. However, if you have a particular niche, then you can opt for Wrestling, Snooker, Golf and Chess too. Overall, the betting market of SkyBet is rich and it can keep itself at the top of the game in the betting industry.
When it comes to the odds of the game, SkyBet is not particularly great at presenting their odds. While the interface of SkyBet is good and the odds are presented properly in Fractional form, the odds are generally settled at just about 90% for both football and cricket. The odds go even lower when it comes to other speciality games. The lack of proper odds presentation is a serious problem for SkyBet.
Live betting & streaming
The in-play betting features offered by SkyBet are also quite decent. You get several sports options to go for when you are opting for in-play betting like Esports, Football, Basketball, Cricket, Volleyball, etc. In the in-play betting place, the different types of bets are shown along with the option to build the accumulator or bet slip. When it comes to live streaming, SkyBet engages in live streaming of tennis, football and horse racing, boasting over 6,000 live streaming of football matches and 5,000 live streaming of tennis matches.
SkyBet is generous in the limits that they set for the punters. You can have a minimum betting limit of 5p while the maximum betting limit can vary as per the game. The max payout is about £500,000 for most of the football leagues. For horse racing and cricket, the maximum payout stands at around £250,000.
Overall, SkyBet is great when it comes to the sports betting section in terms of the number of betting markets that you can play on. The odds presented by the operator are not really that good which can be off-putting for many punters. However, the limits presented by SkyBet are generous on a whole. The live streaming and in-play betting are excellent. Overall, SkyBet can be considered a good sportsbook operator to go for.
Associated with the best sports broadcaster of the UK certainly makes SkyBet a firm favourite among the British audience, but that’s not the only reason. SkyBet has earned its place by providing a fantastic betting experience for all the customers through the various features it offers, especially the excellent sports betting options. Since the operator has a massive pool of resources, it can afford to provide the best of everything to its customers, making it a top-tier place to bet. The casino of SkyBet is small but the live casino section is engaging and entertaining.
The drawbacks of SkyBet include having a relatively limited casino section, and support for only selected casino payment methods. Also, as SkyBet is currently not available for punters from India, they would likely have to wait for SkyBet’s launch in India or seek another operator.
