Bronny James, the eldest son of LeBron James, has reportedly narrowed down his college choices to USC, Ohio State and Oregon. Bronny is expected to announce his decision at the end of February or early March.
According to sources, Bronny received offers from nine collegiate teams but eventually narrowed his choices to three.
The 18-year-old combo guard is currently playing for his high school, Sierra Canyon, which ranks first in its division with an 18-4 record. Analysts said his father’s stellar career put significant pressure on him to perform well.
Bronny has demonstrated his potential in his high school basketball career. He had a 20-point average in a three-game stint against Chaminade, Marietta (Georgia) Wheeler and L.A. Loyola.
Against the former opponent, Bronny showed off a fancy between-the-legs jam that impressed this team. Sierra Canyon assistant coach Chris Howe said Bronny was the key player in the high school basketball team.
“He is the heart of Sierra Canyon basketball.”

Analysts commented that the 6-foot-4 basketball player can use his large frame to navigate through screens smoothly. His strong hands and impressive mobility allow him to apply intense pressure on the ball with precision.
Despite the attention he has been receiving from the public, Bronny still displays good communication with his teammates. According to analysts, he is capable of maintaining team synergy on the court.
Recently, Bronny inked an endorsement deal — of an undisclosed amount — with sportswear maker Nike. His mother, Savannah, said this new deal would be a great way to “start his legacy” in professional basketball.
“Bronny wants to have a college career,” Savannah said. “I think it would be really cool for him to start with collegiate basketball, just to start his legacy there.”
Legend LeBron himself has publicly shown his wish to play alongside his son in the NBA one day. He told The Athletic last year that he planned to play with Bronny for his last year in the professional league.
Unlike in LeBron’s era, high school graduates cannot immediately join the NBA upon graduation. Because of that, many high school athletes have to navigate college or play in other leagues before entering the major league.
The G League is an option for high school players who want to join the NBA quickly. Unlike in the collegiate league, the G League implements NBA rules and professional spacing.
USC Trojans is an option for Bronny because the university is located close to home. One of the best point guards in the 2023 class, Isaiah Collier, has already committed to the Trojans. Bronny is already acquainted with Collier after playing in Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League the past two summers.
Last September, Bronny made an official campus visit to Ohio State. Analysts said the Buckeyes are looking to turn things around, especially after posting four-straight losses in their latest games.
Bronny’s addition to the roster is expected to boost the team. Sources also reported that head coach Chris Holtmann brought in the top five players from the new class to prepare the team for the next season.
Oregon Ducks are also a likely choice for Bronny after signing a deal with Nike. The Ducks are supported by Nike, given that founder Phil Knight is Oregon’s alumnus. All student-athletes at Oregon receive Nike gear.
