In a heated clash on Friday night, the Miami Heat managed to hold off the New Orleans Pelicans 106-95. The visitors’ victory was led by Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler, who scored 24 and 23 points, respectively. Just as the fourth quarter kicked off, Kevin Love from the Heat aggressively moved on the Pelicans’ Zion Williamson, triggering a spat. It ended with Jimmy Butler, his mate Thomas Bryant—who didn’t play but jumped in anyway—and the Pelicans’ Naji Marshall and Jose Alvarado getting the boot.
With seven rebounds and three blocks under his belt, Adebayo dominated the fourth quarter, punching in a whopping 12 points. Adebayo outshone the Pelicans, who managed a meager 15. Butler made a solid comeback after a three-game gap due to personal reasons, steering the Heat to their 7th victory in just nine games. He also clocked in nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro also made significant contributions, with 17 and 15 points, respectively.
Zion Williamson led the Pelicans with 23 points and contributed nine rebounds and seven assists. Herbert Jones scored 19 points, followed by Jordan Hawkins with 14. Jonas Valanciunas not only added 12 points but also collected ten rebounds.
Larry Nance Jr. rounded off the scoring with his 10 points. Despite their strong performances, the Pelicans’ four-game winning streak ended. Brandon Ingram, their second top scorer, missed his second game straight because of a non-COVID sickness.
