According to Bleacher Reports analyst David Kenyon, the Jacksonville Jaguars have a good shot at winning five games during the 2022 NFL regular season.
Kenyon shared his win-loss predictions for all 32 NFL teams for the 2022 regular season, predicting that the Jaguars would win only five games. Meanwhile, he projected that the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans would win 10 and nine games, respectively.
According to Kenyon, the Jaguars made several strategic decisions, including firing their former head coach Urban Meyer.
Last season, the former Ohio State Buckeyes coach spent his first year as Jaguars’ head coach with a 2-11 win-loss record with a six-game losing streak. With the results, the Jaguars become the second team to miss the NFL playoffs with a 2-11 record alongside Houston Texas.
Moreover, Kenyon said that the upcoming season is “all about laying a stable foundation” for the Jaguars.
“Most importantly, the Jaguars rapidly abandoned the ill-fated Urban Meyer hire,” he said
“They brought in Doug Pederson, a longtime NFL coach with a penchant for crafting well-run offenses. Wouldn’t that be a nice change for Trevor Lawrence in Year 2? Between the return of running back Travis Etienne Jr. — who missed 2021 with a Lisfranc injury — a few rookies and a good (very expensive) free-agency haul, the personnel is undoubtedly better this season.”
With the signing of players and management changes, Kenyon predicted that the Jaguars would finish third in the AFC South.
In Kenyon’s opinion, his five-win prediction for the Jaguars was reasoned by the Titans and the Colts’ offseason appearance than Jaguars’ performance, according to sources. Other than Kenyon, several analysts reportedly shared their Jaguars’ prediction ahead of the 2022 NFL regular season.
According to sources, Kenyon’s five-win prediction for the Jaguars was motivated more by the Titans’ and Colts’ offseason performances than by the Jaguars’.
Aside from Kenyon, several analysts have reportedly shared their predictions for the Jaguars ahead of the 2022 NFL regular season.
Lindsey Ok, a USA Today analyst, tweeted her predictions on her Twitter account @lindseyyok.
“About to reveal my division predictions and my awards predictions on the TL. I’m sure you’ll all react calmly and rationally,” she tweeted.
Ok predicted that the Jaguars would be crowned as AFC South champions. Meanwhile, for the other divisions, she predicted that Los Angeles Chargers would be named as AFC West winner, Cincinnati Bengals for AFC North, and Buffalo Bills won the AFC East.
Other than Ok, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus asserted that Jaguars could finish first in AFC South. He said that the AFC South division was relatively weak and could possible for the Jaguars to win it.
In July, NFL Media’s Jim Trotter was of the opinion that the Jaguars would record eight regular season win this year, which is more win than predicted by Kenyon, although he said that it would not be enough to win the AFC South.
Moreover, he asserted that the Jaguars would become the team “nobody” wants to face in December.
According to John Shipley of SI, the Jaguars’ over/under odds are sitting at under 6.5. Shipley said that the team has a “promising and young competitive roster,” but still requires a lot of improvement.
Also, they could record six regular season wins as the team’s roster has improved this offseason and Lawrence plays his sophomore year.
The Jaguars will likely play their season opener with Lawrence to start as a quarterback, while Josh Allen plays as an outside linebacker in their offensive lineup against the Washington Commanders.
