NHL.com’s 32 in 32 series collaborated with Pete Jensen and Anna Dua on their projections of Edmonton Oilers fantasy hockey players. These projections are based on a variety of factors, including past regular season and Stanley Cup Playoff success, injury history, and predicted line combinations, contract status, overall performance for this season, among others.
These fantasy hockey player orders below are based on the NHL.com top 250.
McDavid presently leads the NHL players’ standings with 1.43 points per game, making him the No. 1 fantasy hockey player. McDavid has had a stellar career since joining the NHL in 2015-16, following the Western Conference Final in which he led the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 33 points in 16 games.
His current point total of 1,27 points surpasses the number two ranking, Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. McDavid is recorded to score 125 points in this series by NHL.com.
The German player is ranked second in fantasy hockey by NHL.com, thanks to his 110 points in the NHL last season. Draisaitl trailed McDavid’s rank in second place in the 2016-2017 season, collecting 556 points out of 449 games, although scoring more games than McDavid’s 223, with 233 total goals. However, his goal total at the time was still behind Auston Matthews (259) and Alex Ovechkin (255).
During the previous regular season, Draisaitl finished second in power-play points with 41, just behind McDavid’s 44, and second in goals with 55, just behind Matthews’ 60. Draisaitl was also second in points with 32 in 16 games, trailing only McDavid. Thus, Draisaitl’s NHL.com point projection is 115.
During his final season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Campbell won 31 games, 11 of which were in the NHL. Over the last two seasons, Campbell has posted a 48-12-8 record with a save percentage of .916, averaging 3.48 goals per game. As a result, it’s no surprise that Campbell’s NHL.com point projection is 35.
Kane kept his points-per-game average with the Oilers last season at 0.91, scoring 39 points in 43 games. He is also one of the players who has scored at least 20 goals, having scored 22 last season.
In the same season, he averaged 3,14 hits per game and equaled Nathan MacKinnon for the most post-season goals with 13. This season, his NHL.com point projection is 74.
Hyman finished the conference finals second in goals with 11 and shot on goals with 67, as well as 16 points from 11 goals and five assists in 16 playoff games.
Last season, he set NHL career highs in points (54), goals (27), and assists (27), and his numbers are likely to rise this season if he plays on the top line more often. Hyman’s point projection is 60 by NHL.com.
With 35 even-strength points in the previous season, Bouchard was tied for 14th among NHL defensemen. He is also one of the top 25 defenseman options for Edmonton, which finished third in the NHL with 26.0 percent. Bouchard’s NHL.com point projection stands at 51.
