Though the Buffalo Sabres’ past performances failed to reach the playoffs in 11 consecutive seasons, the NHL has released a fantasy projection of how far they they can go this season, emphasizing some players’ performances.
The Sabres are vouching for their youngster Owen Power in hopes for a better result. The 2021 NHL Draft No.1 pick has three points consisting of two goals and one assist. He is expected to play on the second pair and see power-play time in his first full season.
The 19-year-old defenseman is ranked among the Top 30 Fantasy Defensemen and the second highest-ranked rookie, according to NHL.com’s Top 250. NHL projected Power to score 44 points in his first full season.
The Sabres’ general manager Kevyn Adams praised Power’s ability to adapt in every situation, adding that the Michigan University alumnus was an overall player that Buffalo need for the team.
“I see (Power) as an all-situations guy, someone who’s going to be out there whether the team is up by one, down by one, power play, penalty kill, whatever,”
Adams said.
“He’s always looking to get better, and that’s exactly the type of player and person we want for the Buffalo Sabres.”
Another defenceman Rasmus Dahlin is projected to earn 50 points this season. He could continue his positive form after ranked 13th in terms of points (53) and sit on ninth in terms of goals (13) last season.
NHL.com released that Dahil is ranked among the Top 20 Fantasy Defensemen this season.

Moving on to the right-hand side of the field, the Sabres have right winger Alex Tuch. The New York-born scored 0.76; 38 in 50 games, his highest point-per-game average in the NHL after being acquired in a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights last season.
The league’s official website mentions that Tuch could lead Buffalo in points this season with strong coverage of hitting around 338 in 305 games. The NHL projected Tuch to earn 56 points this season.
Meanwhile, Buffalo’s center Tage Thompson would likely earn 55 points, according to NHL.com. His NHL career highs from last season in points include (68 in 78 games), goals (38; 19th in NHL), and assists (30).

Adams admitted that it was not easy for his team to qualify for the playoff. Entering his third year, Adams said that he needs more time to reach such an achievement.
“You need patience,”
Adams said.
“You need to be able to really be honest and self-evaluate and reflect, but you need to have patience because things don’t happen overnight.”
The Sabres decided not to spend too much on players after signing defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin and Eric Comrie to split goaltending duties with Craig Anderson.
Meanwhile, head coach Don Granato said that he is confident with his team’s composition prior to the new season.
“They fit our needs, but they fit what we wanted too, in people and competitors,”
Granato said.
“We didn’t need to do a lot. We’re an organization that, I think, goes month to month, week to week. We know we’re going to get better by virtue of our age. We feel we have the right pieces.”
