The Florida Panthers will host the Vegas Golden Knights in tonight’s Game 4 of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final at the FLA Live Arena at 8 p.m. ET.
The Panthers will look to build on their recent overtime win in Game 3, showing resilience after a loss in Game 1. Their first game ended with a 5-2 victory for Vegas, who broke away in the final period by scoring three goals.
The Golden Knights maintained their victory streak to Game 2 with a 5-2 win. They had led the series by 2-0, but Panthers managed to turn the tables with their latest 3-2 win in Game 3 on Thursday.
The Knights have an impressive record of 15 wins and six losses in their last 21 away games. The Panthers have also been in exceptional form, winning 12 out of their previous 15 games.
The latest odds from Caesars Sportsbook favor Panthers at -120, while the puck line favors Vegas with a +1.5 (-260) spread.
Sportsline also highlights Florida’s potential left-wing Matthew Tkachuk. Tkachuk has displayed exceptional athleticism, accelerating while maintaining puck control. He leads the team in all three categories with 24 points, 11 goals, and 13 assists. Moreover, Tkachuk has scored goals in consecutive games.
Tkachuk’s clutch performances have been a recurring theme throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and Game 3 was no exception. His game-tying goal late in the third period showcased his ability to rise to the occasion. Tkachuk’s fifth game-winning goal of the 2023 postseason puts him among legendary players like Mario Lemieux, Mike Bossy, and Jari Kurri.
On the other side of the rink Golden Knights’ Jonathan Marchessault has also been a standout player, capturing attention with exceptional hands and puck skills. Not only does he create scoring opportunities for himself, but he also sets up his teammates effectively.
With his stellar 2023 postseason performance, Marchessault shares the playoff lead with Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers. Currently, Marchessault leads the team with an impressive 23 points and 13 goals.
Marchessault continued his impressive point streak in Game 3. His goal tied the game in the opening period, setting a record with eight consecutive games earning points. His ability to find and capitalize on scoring opportunities has been a key factor in the Golden Knights’ success.
Tkachuk’s absence due to injury was evident in Game 3’s initial minutes. Despite the hurdles, he managed to make a significant impact in the final minutes of Game 3. Tkachuk’s clutch play resulted in the contest going into overtime.
In overtime, Panthers forward Carter Verhaeghe shot a goal that beat Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill. This game-winning goal gave the Panthers their first-ever win in the Stanley Cup Final.
Verhaeghe had a goal and an assist in Game 3, including assisting Tkachuk’s game-tying goal late in the third period. Tkachuk capitalized on a rebound from Verhaeghe’s initial shot. This tied the game 2-2 with just 2:13 remaining.
Before that, the Golden Knights had a one-goal lead courtesy of a goal by Marchessault. This goal extends his franchise-record point streak to eight consecutive games.
The game had earlier seen Panthers defenseman Brandon Montour open the scoring. Mark Stone followed with a tying goal off a shot by Marchessault. Stone’s goal became the sixth power-play goal for the Knights, while Marchessault set a new franchise record with his point streak.
