Want to know where you can legally bet on sport from in Louisiana? You’re in the right place as we’ll show you the complete list of legal LA betting parishes and everything you need to know as a resident!
The good news is that you can bet on sport in more Louisiana parishes than you can’t. Plus there’s plenty of reason to hope that more LA parishes embrace sports betting in the future. So let’s have a closer look at all of the parishes that you can legally bet on sports in Louisiana!
Louisiana only legalized sports betting in November 2020, and betting via a mobile app only went live as recently as January 28, 2022. Louisiana’s legal framework means that each parish has the power to permit or prohibit sports betting.
Thankfully 55 of the 64 parishes in Louisiana decided to allow sports betting, but you can only do so within the physical borders of each individual parish. Each legal sports betting app in Louisiana is equipped with geolocation software which ensures that you are only betting where you are allowed to do so.
Of the nine parishes who decided not to allow sports betting, the majority are to be found in the north-east of the state away from any significant gambling locations. Here is a shortlist of those Louisiana parishes where you cannot enjoy sports betting:
Caldwell, Catahoula, Franklin, Jackson, La Salle, Sabine, Union, West Carroll and Winn.
As long as you are not located in one of the above LA parishes, then you should be able to enjoy the full sports betting experience. You can either do so at one of the physical sportsbooks or one of the six mobile sports betting apps. Remember that you will have to be over the age of 21 to gamble in Louisiana.
There are dozens more online sportsbooks expected to launch over the coming months, but for now, here are the six betting apps that you can legally play at in the Pelican State:
Caesars: Everyone in Louisiana will know the Caesars brand name, and its betting app gives you a great introduction to sports betting in LA.
BetMGM: One of the larger online sportsbooks in the US, BetMGM wasted no time in coming to Louisiana. Sign up to get a massive first bet offer.
FanDuel: Offering a seriously user-friendly app and an awesome Super Bowl bonus gives you big reasons to sign up to FanDuel.
DraftKings: Another big name in sports betting with a typically huge welcome bonus for new customers in Louisiana.

Barstool: Another newcomer to the betting scene in Louisiana, Barstool’s app promises competitive odds and generous LA promotions.
