Zynga Commits To Donating $50,000 To LGBTQ+ Charitable Organizations

Zynga, purveyor of the largest online social poker game as well as a variety of other social casino games, is gearing up for another Pride Month celebration this June. The company has announced a variety of methods via which they will show support to the LGBTQ+ community, including $50,000 worth of donations to three different organizations.

Zynga rolls out plans to celebrate Pride Month

Zynga Poker operates the largest online social poker game around, providing their social poker game to millions of players worldwide. They also offer a wide array of other social casino games, including Farmville and Game of Thrones slots. The company has announced their plans in anticipation of Pride Month, proving their commitment to inclusivity with both their wallet as well as with a variety of other actions.

The company’s celebration will start with a variety of in-game features designed to raise awareness and promote inclusivity. Farmville 3, Game of Thrones Slots, High Heels!, and their flagship Zynga Poker game as well as many of their other online casino games will all receive in-game events and changes in celebration of Pride Month. In addition, the company will be putting out employee features detailing the ways that members of the LGBTQ+ community who work for the company have contributed to their success.

Three organizations targeted for donations

In addition to the in-game features, Zynga is putting their money where their mouth is by committing to large donations to three organizations. The first is the Brave Space Alliance, the first LGBTQ+ charitable organization to be led by members who are trans and/or Black. Zynga has committed to a $20,000 donation to the Brave Space Alliance. They have earmarked another $20,000 donation for the LGBT Foundation, a UK-based organization dedicated to achieving equality as well as encouraging the well being and safety of community members.

The rest of the money, an amount of $10,000, will go to an organization that likely hits very close to home for Zynga, Gay Gaming Professionals. The organization is dedicated to helping members of the LGBTQ+ community navigate their educational and employment opportunities. The organization encourages members to achieve their goals, whether that means helping them find employment in an inclusive environment with a top company or to realize their entrepreneurial dreams.

Zynga is not just giving lip service

Pride Month can sometimes be used as more of a marketing opportunity for companies rather than a true celebration of inclusiveness and pride. That is clearly not the case with Zynga, as their variety of efforts makes it clear that they are dedicated to making a real impact. Vijay Pendakur, Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at Zynga was quoted as saying: “”I am honored to support zPride’s thoughtful approach to raising awareness through sponsorships that are intersectional, global and upstream.”

Players will enjoy the variety of unique events and in-game changes throughout the month, and the company’s large donations will no doubt be of great benefit to the organizations receiving them. Online social casino gamers who already enjoy Zynga’s wide array of game offerings can take some pride themselves in supporting a company that is making such a strong effort to support and empower the LGBTQ+ community.
